Wisconsin Badgers Hockey Reveals Alternate Uniforms for 'Frozen Confines'
The Wisconsin men's and women's hockey programs pay homage to UW baseball with new uniforms
Madison, WI—Wisconsin Badgers hockey will take center stage at Wrigley Field on Saturday, January 4th. Both UW hockey teams will be featured in outdoor games on the Chicago Cubs' home field as part of the Frozen Confines: Big Ten Hockey Series.
The Wisconsin Badgers, who will play at one of the most iconic sports venues, revealed new uniforms for the event. The alternate uniforms include nods to the Badgers' and Chicago's baseball and hockey traditions.
Wisconsin Hockey Pays Tribute to Former Wisconsin Badgers Baseball Teams
Although the Badgers have not fielded a varsity baseball team since 1991, fans hoping for the program's return might enjoy one feature of the jerseys UW will wear on Saturday. The Badger women's jerseys feature a cursive script "Wisconsin" across the chest, which "is a vintage look and a nod to historic Wisconsin jerseys." Before the program was discontinued, the Badger baseball team sported a similar look.

A Wisconsin women’s hockey player previously told ‘Sconnie Six Pack that a version of the jersey they saw in November was a cream color. The final product ended up being white.
Beyond the "baseball-inspired font" on the men's jerseys, the uniforms have another wrinkle: black pants. Wisconsin's uniform traditionally includes red pants. On Saturday, UW will wear black pants reminiscent of the Chicago Blackhawks' uniforms.

Wisconsin's games as part of the Frozen Confines begin with the women's game at 4:30 PM central. The top-ranked Badgers will take on #2 Ohio State in a rematch of the previous two national championship games.
The men's game will follow at 8 PM when Wisconsin and Michigan State meet after finishing in the top two spots in the Big Ten a season ago. Both games will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
The Wisconsin Badgers men's and women's hockey teams are undefeated in outdoor games. The event at Wrigley Field is the first time either program will play a game at a baseball stadium.
